not to toot my own horn, but my renditions of stick-folk are second to none.

"the internet"

Watch out, New Yorker! Here comes Nick Thornton, replete with his own brand of dry wit and social commentary!

Haha, I guess a little context would be appropriate.

There's another message board on the internet that I frequent (one big enough where not everyone knows each other). People were going insane over this whole "Muhammad on South Park" thing, so everyone was posting pictures of Muhammad, sort of in protest of the Muslim's reaction to it. Some muslim posters got upset, so the people who were posting the images went on a tirade about how this is protected speech, and posting these images on this message board is the most important thing in the entire world.

I just thought the whole thing was ridiculous. I mean basically, you're flaming Muslims. You're trolling for a reaction on a message board where nothing matters. Talking and debating is one thing, but pretending like it's going to make a difference is something else entirely.

Kinda? I read more than I write, and I'm mostly there for the links.

Wait, is Reddit a message board? I always see it down at the bottom of websites where there are buttons to post a link on Facebook or Twitter or ten other sites. I thought it was one of those sites where I go to see what it is and it looks like it's just a bunch of random links to other sites.

Yeah, it's a link aggregator, but it's also a message board. The links serve as the subject, but there's also a comments section that gets thousands of responses, and some pretty good discussions go on there. People can also start threads themselves about whatever without submitting a link to anything.
